5000+

I currently have an AMD 4400+ the AMD 5000+ Black is only $100. This is an unlocked CPU should be able to overclock to 3.2 GHZ without much trouble. Worthwhile? obviously looking for a cheap performance boost.

If your system supports the overclocking, then I would go for it!

I have the same chip in my system. It's working OK but I want a Phenom, or at least a 6400+. Those evil gnomes at AMD raised the price of the 6400 from about $180 to near $300 in just the past few weeks. I should have built this new rig sooner and taken advantage of the lower price.
My system: AMD Phenom 9500 cpu, 2 x eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked vidcards (640Mb DDR3 each), Zalman "sunflower" 9700 fan, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 2 x Sony 20X DVD writers, Thermaltake Toughpower 8

The 5000+ Blackshould over clock to 3.2ghz fairly easy which is what the 6400 runs at by default. Is that what you have, the 5000+ Black?

I also thought about the phenom but I'm not sure how well it would work with my motherboard (580x chipset) and I'm also not sure how well it performs with FSX.
