The Death Knell?

I think it may be time to trash my backup computer.  Whenever I turn it on, it get a long beeping that sounds like it's coming from the power supply, but could just as easily be on the motherboard.  I do know it's not coming from the stereo speakers, as there are none hooked up and I don't think the power supply has a speaker on it, so forget that one.

The rig is an Intel 2.4 gig with 512k ram and a 120 gig hd.  Not top of the line, but not something I am ready to just toss out either...

Any suggestions?

A beep coming from the motherboard when you power up is an error message Kevin. If you know your motherboard/BIOS google " error beep codes" and you should find an answer. A good pace to start is to open your case and reseat all cards and power cables, that also may be part of the problem.

Don't throw it out just yet.  ;)
