Faster single core processor because dual cores don't work in FS9.
A better graphics card. But first, what is your current settings and framerate? Any budget limits?

That computer is quiet good for FS9 maxed out if it's set up properly. I would just buy a whole new one for fs10 if that's what you're after.

Many thanks for your reply 's.My Fs9 is set for:
Display
Fps limited 25
1280*1024*32
flags on.
Render to texture
transform and lighting

Trilinear
Mip.- 8
Hardware rend. -8
Global is massive.

The aircraft i have all flags on.
The rest i have all in default, except the scenery that i have all of them in very dense, including the dynamic.

The thing is many times my frames drop to like 8/13 fps. Some in default scenery other in adss. I think this machine can give more, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
My budget is around $250 and $300.I want to stay in Fs9 because i like it and i have many adss for it.
Once again Many Thanks for the help. :)

I still think that that computer should run fs9 no problems at all, I would only really save up from a new one from that point on. :)

For performance, I would use the 160gb, instead of 80gb, as primary drive with both Windows and FS9 on it, because it allows data to be more compact within the same space which aids seek head confinement.

Basically a bigger driver should mean better hard drive performance which should help stutters a great deal, but be warned, you will need to use a proper defragger (O&O 8.5) to take advantage of this.

Follow these:

However, do not edit fs9.cfg with any tweaks for fsx.cfg.

Try deleting fs9.cfg and letting it rebuild, reapply your settings from there.

If you're running any cloud texture mods then I recommend 512x512 DXT3 or 256x256 DXT3 texture for that card.

That's about as much as I can recommend to improve performance.

First... just wanna say that a socket 939 platform is a little past it's prime, as far as spending upgrade dollars. It's going on 4 years old.

That said... with your budget.. if you can get your hands on a 939 CPU with 1MB L2 cache (like a 3700)(the CPU you should have had originally), and throw in a 7900-type v-card... O/C both just a tad.. you'll be able handle anything FS9 can throw at a computer.

I noticed that I got better performance in FSX when I set my FPS Limit to Unlimited.  You might want to try that in yours.  I saw a gain of about 15fps when I did that.
