Sorry about that Nick, my apologies.

The link has been corrected, and includes the connections for my monitor. As you can see there is no Headphone socket available. The only socket that i can see related to audio is the AUDIO IN (RGB/DVI).

I had an idea that i could use a SCART ADAPTER (similar one below)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PHILIPS-2-WAY-AUD ... otohosting

Then using the headphone socket built into this adpater, attach a M/M 3.5mm cable to it, and then attach the other end to a set of speakers.

Its a daft process i know, but its a shame LG havn't decided to include a Headphone port within the TV.

Regards.

James

I see no audio 'out' on that panel on inputs. I would have to go to LG and look up the full specs to see if they included anything for audio out other than headphones

But keep in mind, the headphone jack is all you really need for the Bose. As long as that is a stereo mini jack coming off the TV for the headset, the Bose will work fine. It may be the wrong size mini on the TV for the bose but all you need is a converter to step it up or down in size.

The Bose comes with a "touchpad" on switch and volume control so you would set the level of the audio on the TV and then adjust the Bose. It does not matter want type of output it is, as long as it is a stereo signal those bose speakers will light up the room

I dont think they have bothered to include an AUDIO Out option, to be quite honest. But i'm going to order this scart adapter, which provides a HEADPHONE socket OUTPUT from the TV. Soon as this is done, i shall order myself some nice speakers. So will the sound coming out via the scart socket, still be decently good quality?

Cheers, Sorry for the Quiz.

The SCART is most likely the audio 'out' port. Its the european version of our american output connection(s) but consolidates it to one plug. There are up sides and down sides to a SCART. they are limited in a few ways.

If you are going to try and drive a set of external speakers without an amp, you will not be pleased with the results. Those outputs are designed to go to an amplifier, not just to speakers. And I do not know if the SCART output is volume controled. Some of those are what they call "line-out" which means its one set level that never changes and requires you change the volume from the amp.

As I said, the headphone jack on the TV which is volume controlled by the TV and the remote control (if it has one) will driver the Bose just fine and I bet the plug even matches.

I've ordered the bits & bobs of components.

Again, many thanks for your time & support.

If you're hoping to run unamplified speakers off a headphone jack (which provides only enough amplification to drive puny headphone speakers) you will be disappointed...likewise a "line out" which puts out even less voltage... you need an amp between the TV and the speakers.

A cost-effective solution might be to use decent set of 2.1 PC speakers: they can be driven off a line-level output like a headphone jack, but you may have to experiment with the volume of the TV itself as it may be too "hot" for line level at the headphone jack (if that makes sense).
In general, you want your amp near max and adjust the volume at the "head end" (in the TV itself)... if that's possible.

Rigthy Ho!

I've ordered the SCART ADAPTER which allows audio to be played OUT of the TV. This works fine for DIGITAL & NORMAL TV, but when i try to play sound out of my TV whilst playing a game on my 360, it doesn't seem to keen. It doesn't play any sound at all through the speakers i've attached them to, just through the speakers of the TV. (which i'm ttrying to combat Grrrr!)  >:(

My TV is attached to my xbox 360 via a HDMI cable, thats it, just that one cable. Just a bit mythed as to why i cant get external sound via the TV'S Scart connector.

Hmmmm, sounds very confusing i know.

James :-? 8-)

:-?

I don't get that, either... what port on the TV exactly is this SCART adaptor plugged into? Seems that whatever that port is, only tuner audio is routed to it.
