O&O Install

I restored my Vista disc back to pre RC-1 and tried to install O&O Defrag. I keep getting an error message "This software requires Windows 2000 or better".
I rechecked the O&O home page and verified that the version I downloaded did indeed support Vista 32 & 64.
Anyone know the workaround for this?????

You need to clean out your registry.

ROFL.... XP is just a switch flip away.
If Vista worked perfectly I would not have anything to do in retirement. This way I have something new to look forward to everyday and it keeps whats left of my mind working.

I am at a complete loss on this one
I would use the support system at O&O to request support. There is a trial user area and a paid subscriber area for that.
I would not want you to run the software in compatibility mode because in doing so it will probably not install the right support files for Vista x64.
Something strange is going on, thats for sure.
I wonder if that service pack messed things up and a complete re-install from scratch is needed to fix it

Even though I did a complete restore from a backup image I have been thinking the same thing. I am going to give upgrading a shot today before I do a reformat.

OK.... reformatted the disc and did a Vista install... Alas the same error. Makes me think it does not like this motherboard.

I take it you are using O&O 10? I would try re-downloading it if you haven't already. My guess is that you have managed to botch the file while downloading it, and therefore it is seeing your windows incorrectly.
And I know you probably are, but just to make sure you aren't using a "less than leagle" version are you? That includes being in the "trial period" that you have extended till 2099? I had an issue with a friends computer recently where O&O 10 didn't want to install on his copy of Vista because it wasn't genuine.

Considering the fact that I probably "OWN" more software than most computer stores I doubt that you will find anything illegal on my shelves. The trial software has been re-downloaded everytime I tried to install it.
I have written to O&O and am waiting for a response from them now.

I put the XP disc back in and loaded O&O with no problem so I don't think it is a motherboard problem.
I changed my Vista HDD formatted and reinstalled Vista again. Loaded the board and graphics drivers then tried O&O before anything else was loaded. Same results, Needs Windows 2000 or higher OS error.
Did I mention Vista is getting to be a real PITA? :-/
