AMD Quad Core Phenom at $199
Posted: Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:20 pmAMD announced price drops late last week saying "Quad core at a traditionally dual core price." Well they have told truth. The 9500 is 199 at the Egg. This is one hellova deal for a quad core even if it is a bit slower than Intels cpu. These chips clock to 2.9 or 3 if you lucky at this point because of motherbard limitations that still is a decent clock for an AMD cpu.
So if you are on a budget and want to get that extra performance this is the deal for you. Don't forget amd users with a socket am2 motherboard the Phenom is backwards compatible with a BIOS update.
ATI has some pretty cheap and decent offerings out and on the way as well to further help the budget minded.
Im not here to sell anyone to AMD, I could care less what CPU you own. I am just pointing out that if you are on a budget for Xmas and want some better fsx performance than your dual or single is giving you the AMD platform will deliver at a very reasonable price. :D
