Do you want the correct answer or the answer you want to hear? ;)

As far as I am aware, no it won't work. Should be able to send it back (the board) unopened though, I have returned to Overclockers before and never had any problem.

Yes, it will work, but probably only with a BIOS flash update, but even so, you will never get the native 1333 bus speed out of it, although if the BIOS allows you can clock it up to 1333 (333MHz FSB) and use it that way to get the full CPU speed. If the BIOS does not allow FSB changes, your screwed at 1066 MAX

Asuck is not what I would call a decent selection anyway. Its the Asus 'budget' builders division and their quality has always been hit and miss

go to ASROCK online and look up the board (exact model) then look at their CPU chart for that board. Usually they will list the CPU and tell you which BIOS you need to support it. Sometimes they dont list them but they still work.

Then download the motherboard manual, and READ. Check in the BIOS settings if the manual states FSB or CPU Frequency can be changed and see if it gives you a scale.

If the above checks out, you are in business.

Sometimes boards will not boot on newe CPUs without the updated BIOS being loaded but in that case since it already supports the Core2 family I doubt that will be a problem

Going with the 2.4ghz chip as this supports it.
Only want the board beacuse it supports my agp card + dual core.
A cheap option so going to use this as a second pc and build a new one next year.
Thanks for your help.I'll send the 2.6 back.
