Contrastingly to what i said in that previous thread, im really not a geek...pretty clueless actually  :)

Been looking at monitors, preferably ones that can be used as a TV also. This one keeps coming up, and really like the looks of it...from what i understand it seems a real bargain!

Basically though, new PC arrives on Tues...and i just want to be able to hook it up and go. If i get this one am i going to have any problems (besides installing relevent drivers) with hooking it up to my 8800 GTX? Any special cables i need to buy? Clueless  :D

ie i can't actually find out anywhere whether i can just use the standard VGA cables, because when i look at pictures of the 8800GTX the look like DVI sockets?

Many thanks for sharing your expertise again guys !

By the looks of it the standard cables that came with the card should work just fine. One tip if you're using it as a TV and you'll be using DVD player and VCR. Connect the TV aerial to the VCR, then connect the DVD player to the VCR by SCART. Then connect the VCR output SCART to the TV. That way you can run everything without having to mess around with cables ever again (I made a whole load of cables for the home entertainment system I made, if you need any help just scream as I originally started out in IT as a cabler before moving into computer maintenance and then somehow ending up in teaching) ;) ;D

Nay worries mate, I've wired up loadsa things like this. I remember when we first had a DVD ROM in the PC but couldn't afford a DVD player. So I made up some cables to connect the PC to the telly including the sound so the wife could watch her films on the telly rather than the wee 13 inch monitor ;D

Using it right now, really lush bit of kit...pretty chuffed! I'd always said i didn't see the point in larger monitors, but its soo much nicer at 1680x1050!

Agreed Alonso! A steal for the price i reckon, i got mine for
