Okay, here's what I would like to know (or get a good opinion on) I have a Foxconn micro motherboard with the typical locked down bios from acer. Here's the site of the motherboard
http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/M ... -us0000037 It doesnt list that an opteron is compatible but a denmark 180 I believe is close to the same thing as a X2 4800 (Note this is a 939 socket board) Could that processer work with the motherboard even though its not listed? Advanced explanations would be fine I wouldnt mind them at all. Thanks for any help
Gunny

It may POST with the processor, but most likely it will lock out a core or do something silly like that. Just remember that just because its the same socket, doesn't mean that its the same core, and its the core that the motherboard recognizes. So if its not on the list, I would say that is an expensive expirament.
Also remember that if you flash a FOXCONN BIOS instead of a Acer BIOS (which unless you have done this before I wouldn't recommend doing) you can unlock all those features like overclocking.

I don't think you can flash the bios on this comp, its locked up pretty tight, I've tried it only to get some stupid error I can no longer remember

You can't flash from windows, you have to go the USB or Floppie route.
