Big problem since i've tried to install sound card

Hi,

Today i bought a brand new Creative Sound Blaster Live! sound card and tried to install it. (just opened the computer and sticked the card in the motherboard..) But now that it's in, my pc won't startup anymore and if it does, it doesn't detect the card  :(

The guy in the store told me that there wasn't any install-software in the package because XP auto-installs it.. But appearently it doesn't and i've thrown away the ticket so i can't bring it back..

Please don't ask me any technical specs about my pc, because all i know about it is that it runs on XP..

I only use my Windows-pc for FS because for daily use, i prefer a mac. But since i'm a member in a VA, i need to do at least 1 flight per month or i will lose my membership and my saved flight hours..

Does anyone have some advice plz..?  :(

You need to go into SETUP (BIOS) and disable the on-board sound.

You need to go into SETUP (BIOS) and disable the on-board sound.  When the PC starts there is usualy an option to enter SETUP...generally it's Esc or F2.

Regards

Jim

Ok i've tried that, and at least my computer starts up again. But it doesn't detect the sound card.. i'll try to find some drivers but it's a relatively old type of card so i'm not shure i will find any..

Thanks anyway!  ;)

I think it may have something to do with "bus mastering". Try installing it into a different slot, if you have another empty one that is.

I use my old Creative Soundblaster Live! 1024 card in my computer.

It worked fine using Win '98SE but it wasn't designed to be used with Win XP.

(Win XP wouldn't recognise it, or the Drivers which came with it!).

So, I had to search the 'Net for Win XP Drivers to install it.

Obtained them, and all works perfectly now!

The Soundblaster Live! 1024 is an excellent Sound Card, with a MIDI/Game Port socket, as well as the sound Phono sockets.
It contains a EMU Chip containing General MIDI sound files.
It is also very fast at processing sound.

(I use it as my sound card for my Software music Synthesizers/Keyboards and sound modules).

F.... 8-)...!

Does it say on the box that it is suitable for WIN XP... ::)...?

Could you give me a link where to find those drivers..? I'm having a hard time to find them.

Thanks!

Why bother with a sound card ?  Unless you have special speakers requiring it.. or special sound software needing it... on-board sound is more than good enough for simming..

Still doesn't work..  :(

I tried to install the driver, but it wouldn't execute because 'no Creative hardware is present' ..

I simply plugged the sound card in my motherboard, but is there anything else i have to do??
I already tried other free slots but it won't help..
