Got my computer today (4am coughcough  ::)) and finally finished installing all the updates and security and the printer and whatever else
Windows Vista (32-bit)
AMD ATHLON X2 4800+ at 2.5Ghz
nVidia GeForce 6150SE (updating that this Christmas)
3Gbs DDR2 RAM
320Gb HD
22" monitor
and all for $600!

FSX (obviously) doesn't work too well on the computer so I'm gonna load FS9 on it and I'll snag some shots

There's a shot of FS9 but I have a problem, I have my settings on Ultra High (except traffic and clouds as you can see) and my resolution maxed but my FPS jumps from 20 (locked) to 5. Even if I turn all my settings all the way down, it'll jump up to a high FPS and go back down to 5. Any clue what this could be? The video card? Resolution?

Don't listen to them. AMD rocks . Sorry I'm kind of patriotic with that, AMD builds their Athlons in Dresden, Germany. They build their AMD Opteron

Your problem is your videocard. Get a new one. I suggest the Radeon 3870XT or 8800GT 512.

Ok, I have $150 left from the computer...that's enough for a 8600gt...I've heard they had a lot of problem though so I may be going for the 8500. These are the programs I will be running on the computer (base one's)

Edit: I hate Intel's. Had them on old computers and those computers processors were fried in about a year and we have another HP Pavilion that we have had for 4 years and it's still in great condition.

What ISP are you on, I'm on Tiscali 8mb but they only give me 8mb in off peak hours.. and I looking to switch providers. Do you get that sort of speeds during evening times if so.. what ISP are you on please?

Virgin media... although I pay for a 20mbps connection it's never gone above 10mbps and as you can see, my average is just under 7mbps.. but that's ample for my needs really, I'm more restricted by upload speeds from other servers.

Pfft...



11MBPS and that too on a Wireless Connection 8-)
