just ordered new pc, upgrading from 3000xp 9800xt 1gbram (very ancient!), and was wondering what fsx will run like on full settings? could i improve the spec in anyway? thanks for the help

4Gb Corsair TwinX DDR2 XSM2 Dominator, PC8500, 1066mhz
Asus 8800 Ultra 768mb (also gona overclock)
Vista Home basic 64bit Edition
500gb HD

If the Dominator is expensive, I'd get something cheaper with a similar spec, or even lesser spec.

At 400mhz fsb, the rig will run PC6400 800mhz ram at it's nominal speed with a 3.2ghz overclock and a 1:1 fsb:mem ratio, which is desirable.

If the ram is cas4 PC6400, it will probably run cas5 at 1066mhz, so you have some overclocking headroom beyond 3.2ghz if you want, even with a cheap cas4 PC6400.

TEAM make a budget ram that gets cas3 at over 800mhz.

I've been looking at the Abit IP35pro, and I was considering that or the Asus P5KR for my next build, but by then, the X38/48's will be cheap/er.
