Whats your prefrence, I have 2 options I just bought a matched pair of 2x1gig sticks. I have installed 2x512 the 2 gigs run at 667 but the 512 run at 533 so...

option 1,  Install all four and have 3 gigs 2x1gig in bank 1 and 2x512 in bank 2 so it will run in dual channel or

option 2,  Just install the 2x1gigs and leave the 512's out losing 1 gig but running at 667.

I would much rather have 2x1gb of quick RAM than 3gb of slow RAM. :)

Well that depends there is no firm say. Obviously if you try and run Vista on 512 Mbs of ram running at 300 Mhz it's still going to be slow because it would be using pagefile up the arse. Now if we go to the larger sizes of ram (2gb and up) at this point I would rather have 2 Gb of fast ram than 4 GB of slow ram but in all reality it all equals up: A 2 Gb module will be slower than a 1 Gb module but it can hold more data.

Most games today don't even use up 2 GB of ram but if you have the spare cash (I) would go with the 4 GB ram modules.

Now for you I would go with the 2 x 1 GB sticks. Because your not mixing and matching ram. Nothing uses much more than 2Gb ram today anyway, and your still running in dual channel. The best way to test is play on comp with 2 GB run some ram benchmarkes then add the other sticks and compare.
