I was planning on building a new system because of problems with my current computer. This is my first build so I am looking for some help with the parts. I do not want a super computer but I want it to be good for games and school work. Here is what I have chosen. Please give me any recommendations that you have and tell me about anything I am missing. I am planning on using Windows Vista Ultimate.

Case

Power Supply

CPU

Motherboard Is there any advantage for me to get this instead?

Graphics Card

Memory???Any suggestions

Hard Drive

CD Drive

Id go with the mobo thats 20 more, that black pcb is so much sexier :P.

Edit: seems those mobos are not good with quad cores, model 122-CK-NF68-T1 or 122-CK-NF68-A1 is what you need.

I see what you mean, but the problems are only if you overclock the CPU which I do not plan on doing. I am wondering if this CPU would be better for me?

The q6600 will easily go to 3ghz on air, even though you don't plan on overclocking I would think about it. If your willing to try it youll have double the cores at that same speed, (theres not much risk in getting the q6600 to 3ghz anyway) but you may look at a zalman heatsink or something of the like. So if it were me, and im going to be purchasing a system quite similar in a couple days, I would get the quad and bump it up. Just my 2 cents ;)

BTW, take a look at this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129021

And this heatsink:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118020

Oh and this is the xfx version of the evga I listed earlier: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813141003

I think those would suit your needs best, but thats me :)

Memory wise (I'm not sure how much you want to spend) but these are quite a good deal (at least I think with the rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145179

I will go with the quad core with the XFX motherboard and the case you recommended. The memory you suggested is to expensive, but I found this.

Thats the same ram exactly, just 2 sticks. I really would recommend getting a cpu heatsink other than the stock one though.
