FSX Aceleration DX10 Problems

Yeah so I bought it hoping I would enjoy the joy of DX10.

I did a TOTAL clean install, installed FSX Deluxe, SP1 then Acceleration.

I did not load any add-ons and tuned my settings as I had it before the expansion set. Only this time I activated DX10.

I noticed I had to restart FSX for it to take effect. So I did.

Restarted, loaded a flight in the mustang (active runway) Honolulu Intl.

Now before acceleration I would get 20-25 FPS with my settings at what it is.

NOW: with DX10 enabled at the very same settings I get 5-10 FPS at the same spot, active runway Honolulu Intl.

Of course staying on DX9 does look better then ever before, and provides a great performance boost.

My vista has all updates (Hot fixes) and my XFX driver is the 158 (I think)

I've noticed the same thing as you. I'm running an HD2900XT, a Q6600 @ 3.0 and 4GB of DDRII 800MHz and I used to be able to play FSX at 30fps. Now with DX10 my fps dorpped to 25 and only rarely reach 30. And I've turned a few settings down for DX10!
And that's not all... sometimes when I change some of the sliders (to tweak the game a bit) the screen suddenly goes black and the monitor stops getting any signal from the graphics card. FSX somehow manages to lock the graphics card and then I have to do a reboot. I'm gessing all this will be corrected by the new ATI 7.11 drivers which should be out soon. Or it may very well be an FSX Acceleration problem with HD2900XT cards.
In the meantime, it's really annoying to have spend 45 EUR (64 USD) in an add-on that just causes problems.
