laptop problem

Postby luke » Sat Oct 27, 2007 1:34 pm

my dell laptop, when I type sometimes the letters come in twos, seems is only the vowels, especially the " i "  &  " e ".

I tried it with two external keaboards with same results.

Any idea which part of the machine would produse this fault. CPU perhaps? or something more easy to replace.

thanx                  luke

Luke,

The first thing I would check is the 'Repeat Rate' and 'Repeat Delay' of your keyboard.  However this would tend to affect all keys equally rather than individual keys so It may also be your Keyboard driver has become corrupt.

Go to Settings->Control Panel->Keyboard and check out the Hardware Tab->Properties button->Driver Tab.  Try re-installing or updating the driver.

Regards

Jim

It could also be a loose connector or dry joint on the keyboard itself. Possibly the key could even be sticking. Do you eat lunch whilst using the laptop?

Bit of a coincidence if it happens with 2 external keyboards as well...sounds like software rather than hardware......I'm assuming that you have a done a complete virus update and sweep of the system???

Could still well be a dry joint. That might give identical symptoms.

Repeat Delay & Rate altered to no avail.

The drver was refreshed & reinstalled via System>Keaboard in ME.

Will try & pick up some carrage to get to the keys, but still how about the external keaboards.

Will try an wireless one too.

And now how would you solve me this OTHER problem that surfaced 2-3 months ago:-

Sometimes if I open more than three IE windows it comes up with a worning about the "cache" & go Tools>Intrnt Options & delete the Temp.Intrnt files. When I do that it clears up for some time.

ALSO sometimes, after I close the IE I get this worning:-

Instraction at " 0x62304390" referenced memory. The memory couldnot be read.
Click OK to terminate program.

Thanx again falkes             luke
