Try a different or new IDE cable or try the following:

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]
Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.
Exit Registry and Reboot

The regy trick did nothing, bur on last boot I past by the config window & noticed in boot up priorities the second was the cd rom that always shows up first time.

I changed the second to HD instead & on first start up both cd roms showed up.

Hope it stays so, OR I'll be back!!

Thanx all.

check master / slave settings and cables
80 wire ATA needs the correct sequence on the connectors and drives: Black = master, grey = slave, blue = board.
SATA doesnt care because it has separate connectors for master and slave channels

At the end had to resolve to the channel settings, BUT the middle is set to MS & the end to SL to get the corect sequense.

Thanks      luke

Don't feel too bad. Mine shows the Zip drive as a 3 1/2 floppy drive in Explorer and as a Zip drive in My Computer. I've tried everything to no avail. It's a BIOS problem but it works like a Zip and recognizes Zip disks when inserted, so I'll live with it. :D
