Hi John

My projector is an Infocus LP280. At 5 feet I get 38 inch screen. I think that at this sort of distance, they are all pretty much the same give or take an inch. On thing to remember though, is the point angle of the projector. As you will not be able to have the projector directly in front of you, I am assuming it will be above an behind you. At such a short projection distance, the point down angle my have a significant effect on the projected screen. It will end up wedge shaped. Most projectors have a "keystone" button to adjust the angle of the picture, but it may not be able to compensate fully for such a short distance and angle combination. I would before you buy, work out the rough angle and distance and then roughly try to mimic that in the shop before you buy. Some projectors may be able to cope better than others. My projector is a business machine, at 10', I get a 10' screen which can cope well with quite hard angles laterally and horizontally and works well at the lower distances for FSX.

Matt,

Thanks.

Actually I have found in looking at the projection calculators that many of the newer (cheap-ish) XGA projectors have much smaller images at that kind of throw distance than what seems to have been "standard" in the past.

What you need is the NEC WT610.

OK... I just did the keystoning geometry on paper and came up with approximately 18 degrees.  Well within the capabilities of the Epson Powerlite 77C's manual keystone....but outside the "auto" mode.

Yes...the first picture was pre-prototyping..ie gathering the hardware and integration testing.

Jim,

WOW!   :o ;)  I'm drooling all over the floor just here looking at that!  But it's way outside my financial capabilities, unfortunately  :'(.  Not to mention the space that I can devote (at this point in my life) to the pit.

My pit sits on a 5 foot by 5 foot by ceiling height self contained footprint.  Models only the captains side.  Front display (hopefully) will be projected.  Left window will be LCD monitor.  For the right side winddow ..... might be lcd monitor.....might not exist.

best,

....................john

Jim,

Unfortunately 32" doesn't really cut it for the installation and the view angles in the pit.
