Another Driver Question

Perhaps should go in Software Forum, but concerns ATI 1650SE Video Card.
Decided it was time to start the move to FSX, so purchased a new Core2 Quad 6600-based machine on Monday...Vista Home Premium. Machine has a 512mb PCI-E ATI 1650SE video card.
While Vista is something else to learn, I think I can safely say that there is no control panel, nor any ATI files (except a handful of ati.dll's) that I can find. Right clicked desktop, looked under properties, but no gpu controls there. Did the obligatory Vista "search" through the whole machine including "hidden, etc." files. While I'm waiting to replace this card with a DX-10 one, I would like to be able to adjust settings on it.
I am very familiar with cleaning out all vestiges of old drivers...including deleting from the registry, and having a clean install of the new drivers (have always used ATI GPU's). I have downloaded the new Cat 7.9 Drivers from ATI, and would like to install them, but I'm a bit nervous about deleting the few ati.dll's that are on this machine...specifically that I may not even have vga drivers to run the monitor. I've reviewed the builders help centre, ATI's support centre, did google searches and have emailed the manufacturer's support site (no response yet).
With more folks starting to purchase new machines, I'm hoping someone has already come across and resolved the issue. Can I just run the Cat 7.9 installer and hope for the best?
Anyways, sorry for long-windedness, just wanted to give as much info as possible. As an aside, Vista and the gpu, even with C2Quad 6600 brings me no joy in eith FSX or FS9...thought at least FS9 would be smoother than my old 2.7 gig P4 machine!.....thanks for any advice,
Terry
