who to buy from?

What OEM would you buy from? I know, most will say "none of them!"

I bought from Ibuypower last December and had a horrible experience. I ended up shipping it back and getting a full refund minus shipping (which wasn't cheap!!).

I'm considering buying a PC from Dell. For $1000 I can get a Q6600, Windows XP, 2gb sdram 800mhz, and a 320gb hard drive. It would come with an nvidia 8300GS but I would buy an 8800 GTS or 7950GT off ebay. My concerns right now are that I don't know what motherboard Dell ships with or what power supply.

What are your thoughts? I'm a pilot and am away 5 days a week. I don't have time to build my own, so that isn't an option unfortunately.

My goal is to run FSX at medium settings and stay under $1500.

Use the 'Customize and Buy' option from DELL.  The XPS 410 with an 8800GTX is an excellent PC for FS9 and FSX.  I have built a 4 monitor system based on this unit with XP Pro, the Q6600 processor and 2GB RAM.

Thanks for the info, just what I wanted to hear, but thought I wouldn't! That's exactly what I configured, except I am just going to purchase it with a low end GPU and purchase an 8800 on ebay.

I assume the PS and MB that it comes with are adequate?

With the Matrox th2g, is it possible to connect different resolution monitors to it? I have a 22" widescreen, and I'm looking to flank it with two 19" without having to add another graphics card.

Matrox either supports 3 standard monitors or 2 widescreens.

Link in sig  ;) I'm using a Sapphire X1550, to my knowledge, in a PCI-E slot. I could use a PCI card, but I dont know of any decent graphics cards in that format.

I'd like to buy a new motherboard and SLI two 8600 or 8800's, so I could use 4 monitors overall or one monitor in SLI mode, but I'm not particularly keen on swapping all my components over to the new mobo.
