DVD/CD RW Drive Driver Issue...Need One For Vista

Haven't really had a reason to burn any DVDs or CDs on this system till now.  But then I quickly find that my computer only sees my Sony as a standard readable drive instead of a burner.  I'm broke and can't afford a new one.  But I can't seem to find any kind of updated driver after a lot of searching.  It always worked fine in XP and even 98.  Its at most 1.5 to 2 years old.  It reads just fine but I really need it to begin some major file backups.  I don't feel like having a mishap and loose hours worth of work.

Its a Sony DVD/CD RW drive...Model, DW-Q30A...IDE

If theres no driver then is there a way to trick it into thinking its in XP :-/  Running Vista 64-Bit.  Theres a Service pack to be released with many updates to drivers etc but who knows when Microsoft will get it out and I would prefer not to wait any longer.  Theres one disk I have to get done by next week :-/

Coincidence...I already searched that exact same wording.  Already been through them and the most I got was an updated firmware.  YYS6 is the newest that you can actually download...theres a YYS7 but it seems not to exist when trying a download.  Mine was running on YYS4 but even the update to YYS6 did no good...still just a readable drive :(   Sony website is useless as well as their tech support >:(

I don't know if it's any help, but I recently updated all my hardware drivers ( 2x printers and TV card) on the net because all the drivers on the cds were for XP only (I now have Vista). Every site had what I needed but for 32bit Vista only (which I have). No drivers for 64bit I'm afraid.
