Hello Everybody,

Don't laugh too hard at my specs. I want to post them so maybe someone out there can help me get the most out of this system. Basically my main gripe is how the ground textures go blurry, I know this problem is pretty common but if there is anything I can do to help with performance I would be very thankful.

SPECS:

MSI PM8 M3-V Motherboard
Intel P4 517 2.93Ghz CPU
Ultra 500W V-series PS
2GB PNY PC2700 333mhz Ram
Nvidia 7600 AGP 7600 GT 512MB
2 Maxtor 40GB EIDE 7200rpm/2mb csh/ata-133 hard drives with RAID 0

Im running FS9 with UT/GE/Fsgensis terrain mesh

I know not cutting edge but is there anything that could be done to quell the blurries?

You have to understand that networking cycles are on the list of top 4 CPU/memory cycle killers. The mesh needs CPU cycles and the textures need the video speed. If a combination of startup software, background programs, poor disk access and heavy network activity are present you will be fighting a loosing battle on higher quality settings because there simply is not enough CPU/memory cycles to go around on a system like that. The only solution is to clock it up.. a lot and even then you may not be able to break the threshold.

There are ways to combat USB and network communication cycle issues by using hubs, switches and a strategy for the network which leave the base system for rendering but none the less, any network activity during MSFS use does hinder the needed resources from the CPU.

MSFS pulls back on rendering a feeling of 'floating on air' first. Many people have not even expereinced that 'floating on air" feeling in the sim because they are simply running too many things and/or the settings in the sim are wrong, out of balance or too high. Usually it is a combination of that and poor hardware ability.

The sim pulls back on mesh and textures next, which is where most sit in terms of MSFS.
