Memory Speed compatibility

Postby Dan Brown » Sat Jul 28, 2007 1:42 am

Hello All-

In the process of selecting components for my new rig. I will probably be going with the MSI P6N Platinum SLI motherboard, which is compatible with DDR2 533/667/800 ram. Can I get ram such as the Corsair DDR2-8500 that is 1066mhz? I'm not sure if RAM is "downward compatible" like that or not. I don't have any intentions of overclocking ram, although I may go with an overclocked E6600 for the CPU. Also, are there a range of combination of latency numbers I should look for in RAM? I'm always learning, so any help is appreciate. Thanks!
