HDD Speed - random access

These are my drives benched with HD Tach.

I wonder why my RAID-0 array's random access time is so high compared to my single WD 250gb backup drive?
Random access s slower than most drives in the HD Tach database as well.

Is anything wrong or is it because of the total drive size which is much larger on the RAID-0 array?

I'm not sure what the results should look like, There isn't a comparable setup in the HD Tach database to compare with.

Raid-0 is like more than one HDD right?

well, from what ive heard, Raid-0 will give u double the transfer rate of one of the drives, but the downside is that if a drive blows up (or mechanical equivalent) then all the data will be lost.

what i think it does, is it writes half the data to one drive, and the other half to the other drive, so if the default transfer rate of one of the drives is 150MB/s, then both together will be the equivalent of 300MB/s.

Thanks, I know what it is but my random access time, a function a seek time and latency, is much higher than I expected to see.

Anyone have any thoughts on this as to whether this is normal or do I have a particular problem?
