Creative soundcards

I had to do a reformat and fresh install of windows the other day (long story) from the recovery disc that came with my OEM base unit.
Since I bought it I've changed to a cheap Creative Audigy sound card, added 1gig of Ram and a new PSU.
After the reinstall I had to update XP to SP2 (the recovery disc is so old (2005) it only had SP1 on it) as well as all my Anti virus/spyware/firewall etc.
But I cannot get the darn thing to recognise my Soundcard.
I've tried, all with no success:
Downloading drivers from Creative (I can't find the disc)
Removing the card, rebooting and reinstalling the card.
Obviously I've disabled onboard sound... Anyone got any ideas? When I bought the card it was a doddle to install..
If it's any help it's not recognising my USB TV card either, and I DO have the software disc for that.
Cheers lads,
Rob.

Hi!Another thing you could post is your MOB, that could also help.Have you tried to reset the cmos, or load the default values of your MOB?
When i asked for the MOB ref. its because you might have a conflict on your hands
Be sure that all your usb ports are working.I had something similar with a Pinacle tv card. And it was a conflict with my graphic card.I solve the problem with a stupid way i've instaled the tv card first and then the video card after, its crazy but it worked.
I have some friends that have 250gb WD MyBook and those are always giving problems specially after a wile thay start to say that the hard drive is not formated, and you have all your data in it.
Dont forget to tell us wich MOB you have.
Cheers

First thing to do is t oswap the sound card into different PCI slots - It may be something to do with the interupts used by the slots. I hope it helps!

What type of card is it exactly? Creative Audigy doesn't tell us here much, Try downloading the drivers specifically for it from creative, if that wont work then go into the device manager and see if its detected and considered working etc, Should be something lie Sound devices etc, Hope this helps!

I have a lovely Creative Labs 1024 sound card with a built-in EMU Voice/Sound Chip and MIDI/Joystick D-Socket...
...but because the Software was designed for Win '98 it was never recognised in my Hardware Display Profile, using Win XP....

...!
Only a few of the latest (inferior) Creative cards are recognised by Win XP..!
I now have had to fit a
