Hi fellows need some help to restore my speed. :'(  :-/

my specs
windows xp media centre service pack 2
E6600 cpu
RAM corsair ddr2 667mhz 4 gigs
2western digital HD raided 500gigs
ATI Radeon X1900 512 mb DDR2 clock500 memory 594
MOBO D975BX version 305

maybe my system is not optimized??

Here are my questions:

1.what is the default speed/voltage for the ati card and how high will it /can it be adjusted?
2. what is the default voltage of the corsair RAM and how high can it be volt modded?
3. what is the optimum timing of the RAM. currently ras 12
                                                                         cl   4
                                                                         rcd 4
                                                                         rp   4.
4. what is the default setting for the FSB

I have the Intel desktop Control Centre  and the above items can be configured through the CC.
A. The VID card can be adjusted from 101.32mzh to 109.24 mzh
B. The RAM can be adjusted from 1.8 to 2.2 volts and the timings Ras 15 to 4 all other between 3 to 5
C. The FSB can be increased by % of 1% to 50% increase . It can also be decreased by percentages -1% to _20%

I have diskclean, defragged and ran all antivirus and spyware programs .   No problems found

needless tyo say all of these settings should be balance to give optimum performance.

your thoughts on the above are greatly appreciated.

thanks

michaelmichael

PS. had a similar question in the trweahing and OC forum but no responses so i thought i would try this forum

thanks

OEM or Homebuild? All of those numbers are spot on to their defults, but why do you think your system is running slow?

oem

also you will see a range of adjustments which i mentioned . these are controlled throught the Intel desktop Control Centre.

can you advise which settings for Ram cpu and FSB would get me an improvement in performance.

thanks

If its an OEM (HP Dell etc( like you said, you may be neutered by the OEM BIOS, so anything you do may not achieve the result you are looking for.

The best I can recomend would be to use ATI tool to crank up your video card, but I would leave the processor alone, changing the FSB may trip up the OEM BIOS and cause it not to boot.

thanks cameron

did you notice items A,B,and C, of my intial post. these are items i can adjust through the intel desktop control centre.

may i have your comments about those possible setting adjustments please.

also do you think my RAM timming of 4, 4, 4, 12 is okay or should it be 5, 5, 5, 15,  or 3,3,3, 9

your thoughts are appreciated

Well, 4-4-4-12 is going to be the best for leaving the RAM stock, 5-5-5-15 for overclocking.

I'm still trying to figure out what you are trying to achieve? As long as the E6600 is running 2.4Ghz its at its stock clock. You can increase your FSB as high as you like , but just make sure to amp up your RAM voltage to keep up.
