I just bought a new case, a

LIAN LI PC-G70B,  it accommodates two power supplies.

and I have two identical power supplies,

ULTRA-QUIET PSU: SILENCER 610 EPS12V


I was wondering if you all think it's safe to use this below to run both.

I run 2 PSUs with a similar adapter and it works great.

As I needed the power, the electric bill was a mote subject, I say go for it

Power Supply Myths Exposed!
1. DOES A POWER SUPPLY UPGRADE MEAN A HIGHER ELECTRIC BILL?
This is the biggest myth of all. First, it's important to understand that a power supply only delivers the power that's needed by the system, nothing more. If your PC currently has a 400W supply and the system needs 350W, it will still need and use only 350W - if the only change is upgrading to a 500W power supply (the upgrade makes sense since there are many advantages to running a power supply at a lower percentage of its rated capacity). Whether the electric bill goes up or down is solely determined by the efficiency of the new power supply. Greater efficiency means a lower electric bill because more of the AC power is converted into DC for the computer, rather than wasted as heat. The savings can really add up over time. For example, when the money saved in electricity over the course of its 3-year warranty is taken into account, the purchase price of the efficient Silencer 750 is less than $0.00. Here's the math:

Model Efficiency @ 550W Input Power @ 550W
Silencer 750 83% 662W
Antec True Power 550 73.8% 745W

For the same output power, the Silencer 750 uses 83W less input power.

3-year savings = .083KW x $0.10/KWH x 24 x 365 x 3 = $218.12
 

Alright guys,  thanks  I'm gonna do it.  What the hay,  I could sell the second but I wouldn't get my money out of it.  It's almost brand new.

and my power consumption considerably dropped not to mention the temps lowered by quite a bit.

Its those cheap made 800-1000 watt units that cost more to run and get hotter than blazes.

You get what you pay for with PC Power and Cooling. There is NO other consumer grade PSU which can compare. You have to go into medical and military spec devices to get better quality.

Nick, what kind of a rig are you running!?? Wish I had one of those! I have a crappy Dell 350watt peice of crap which somehow manages to run my rig.

The only precaution I would take using that method is to place all the motherboard and video card power connections on PSU1 and all the HDD and CDrom units and any 'direct' powered devices that directly plug into a PSU line, in example such as extra case fans, on PSU2.

This is exactly how my computer is set up. The Silverstone 600 powers both 7950 GX2s and the motherboard and the 450 runs everything else.

I have several systems Arnaage. I have rigs for everyday use and ones for testing and playing.

Right now I am testing a Dual L AMD ring with a "special" video card that requires 265watts of power alone. Thats as much as I can tell you about that system.

I have another rig which is dual xeon. Its a work horse for running the household network, entertainment system, house timers and engineering programs along with video editing.

The rest are just your run of the mill systems running 7900 and x1950 series cards which are tuned up to the max.

The tower on my boat runs Core2 6800 with the x1950 series which gets the net off a sat receiver and is the entertainment base for the flat panels and bose surround systems in the main living space and master cabin.

The only precaution I would take using that method is to place all the motherboard and video card power connections on PSU1 and all the HDD and CDrom units and any 'direct' powered devices that directly plug into a PSU line, in example such as extra case fans, on PSU2.

This is exactly how my computer is set up. The Silverstone 600 powers both 7950 GX2s and the motherboard and the 450 runs everything else.

Silverstone is also a very good PSU if you get the right units. The 450 and 600watt units are two of their better designs although they did have a design flaw in one as I recall, which was fixed in a later revision.

It really does make a big difference when you have a lot more power, clean and well designed power, than needed.

If I plug my video card and MB in one power supply  and everything else in the other one,  will this other one work?
I thought a power supply would not work if it is not plugged in to the MB.
