Soundblaster Live 1024. Win XP driver source..?

Postby Fozzer » Tue Mar 27, 2007 7:48 am

Hello Chums...!

Of all my various sound cards, The Creative Labs Soundblaster Live 1024 PCI card for Windows '95/'98 was/is always my favourite, due to its excellent software ability of accessing all its internal General Midi sounds and effects, also via a MIDI keyboard plugged into the Game Port.

I have searched the Internet (including Creative Labs) for the possibility of obtaining Windows XP drivers, without success... :'(...!

Does anyone have this particular card, and have found some suitable Win XP drivers for it.... ::)...?

None of my present sound card's drivers contain a software program to gain access to the internal sounds and effects (including MIDI) as effective as the Soundblaster 1024... :'(...!

Paul....Midi Master... 8-)...!

My present sound card is a (cheap-o) PC Line 5.1 Channel Sound Card PCL-SC5100, running under Win XP....
..obviously not the best sound card in the World... ::)...LOL...!

Hello Alex...

...that's the one..!!
...crash of thunder to make you jump out of your chair...LOL...!

A fantastic card with an amazing set of drivers....
...but it only installs the drivers under Windows '95'98... :'(...!

I cant find any drivers for Win XP with the same programs available...Sounds..Effects...Speaker arrangement....Piano keys...Instruments....Midi inputs....etc... :'(...!

It works fine with Win '98...but the software drivers wont install using Win Xp, so I cant access the programs......!

The latest Creative cards are not as useful for my applications....generating my own music...!
...it has the Emu sound chip on-board...;)...!

Paul...Sounding cool... 8-)...!

WOWZERS...!!

It works a treat, Doug.... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

After swapping PCI slots, and making sure I selected the "New" sound card, the Win XP drivers installed faultlessly..!!

My search on the 'Net brought up countless similar enthusiasts asking for, but not able to find these new drivers...
...only the Venerable Douglas knows where they can be found... ;)... ;)... ;)...!

Many thanks again Doug... chocolate cookie on its way!...[smiley=beer.gif]...!

Alex may also be pleased to locate them, as well... ::)...!

Paul ....Soundblasting off... [smiley=happy.gif]...!

Fantastic...!!

It's the only sound card I've come across that enables me to easily connect all my Midi keyboards, synthesizers, and organs to it, and play all 127 General Midi voices which are on the E-mu chip on the card...together with all its various sound effects... :)...!
...and layer all the voices...!

Wonderful... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

Paul...enveloped in music... 8-)...!

P.S. Ideal for electric Guitars as well...Wa-Wa, Chorus, Reverb, Flanger, Heavy metal, Grunge, etc...etc..;)...!

Hi Paul. Been reading about your dilema and saw that Doug once again came through with the goodies.   [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Glad it all worked out.
I have the SB Live 1024 in one of my older Dell units. After looking at the drivers disk I notice it not only has drivers for Windows 98 & ME, but also supports Windows NT4.0 and Windows 2000. Strange that XP can't use this.
I guess that's one more reason why I took a pass on XP.  ;D

 Cheers
