Hows about what I just took the plunge for?

Dell XPSM1710 Red
Intel Core 2 Duo T7400
2GB RAM
160GB Hard Drive
GeForce Go 7950GTX 512MB
8x DVD Burner
802.11a/b/g
Express card bluetooth

Its my birthday, and my old Latitude D600 is......well its more than gone, so that is already on eBay....so since G81 isn't out yet, buying a desktop is out of the question. Comprimise? mobile gaming machine, that has enough battery life to get me across the continent, and even if it doesn't the spare will

Thoughts?

Cheers
Cameron

PS: If you do suggest something else, I need to be able to finance it, my rents are paying for half, but even they agree that its ridiculous to spend that much in one shot on a computer.

$3,347

Funny thing, If I overclock it as much as it will allow (yes finally Dell has unleashed the BIOS of the XPS series, and I can OC!!!!!) This will actually bench the same as Sheila.

Mmmm tasty

How about an update on your lappy. Is it all you expected and does it run as good as the specs look?

I just sold both of mine and can't decide what to replace them with.

FINALLY ITS HERE!!!! And I'm posting from it. It runs better than expected. With the exception of Supreme Commander, and FSX there isn't a single game that gets less than 45FPS ON MAX SETTINGS!!!!!

Actual and final specs:

Core 2 Duo T7400
2GB DDR-2 667
nVidia Go 7950GTX 512MB
160GB 5400RPM Hdd (to save cash, I'll put a 7200 in there soon)
802.11n (one of many free upgrades)
Bluetooth 2.0 ExpressCard
Tri-Boot: XP Professional, Vista Home Premium (came with it), OSX x86 10.4.9 Server (off a 160GB WD Passport)
The rest is all standird XPS M1710 stuff.

If you've got the cash, and want the best lappy there is, this is the one to get. With my brightness set at 5/7 I get about 3.2 hours listening to music, not really doing anything, and about 1.8 hours gaming. Both clocked w/ WiFi on connected to my network, but my Ethernet turned off.

Cheers
Cameron
