I just wanna know, especially cam right now, what advantage does a hiper type R have over say a Thermaltake? the hiper's have no grounding, so any high shock would kill it. no protection like my Tt does. so i'm just prodding Cameron why a hiper?

I'm just a big fan of the Type R, because for its price range, its excellent. It runs rathar stable, and not to mention the modular part plays a huge fact in the layout of my rig.

I went for the Type R as a modder, not as a power user, and I suggest them so that you don't end up with the usual rats nest of wires like you do with conventional PSUs.

Now If you are planing to run something like my next rig, E6600, 4 DDR2 sticks, 4 Hard Drives, 2 DVD Drives, 8900GTX, etc your going to need something stable with a lot of power, a dual 12v rail and a very high efficiency rating. That is why I am going for an Earnmax Galaxy 1KW PSU.

very understandable. i start to wonder how much more im going to pump into my computer before i realize i should get a new mobo. eh RAM comes first. 2700 is old school, but my mobo only supports up to 3200. well better than nothing, i'll splurge part of my tax refund on new ram, 4 x 512 OCZ gold, got it reserved.
