Yes you will. Don't buy them though, wait for G81 cards, buy two 8900GTXs be happier than the first gen 8800GTX that you have now.

Sort of.  But here are my findings:

First off, wait for a Processor that can really handle 8800 cards in SLI.
Second, unless you are running at 2500x1600 resolution, you may not see really significant changes.
Third, same as Cam.  wait for 8900 cards.

personally, im waiting for a better main processor, and 8950GX2s with 8Gb RAM.

Waiting is essential when buying a rig, isn't it.... :-X

A pc is top-of-the line for about a week, jeez....

BTW, I think the X6800 yf has will be fine to handle 2 8800GTX's.

Exactly. If YF's rig is "Underpowered" then we are all screwed.

Just a quickie

Unless the motherboard and the video cards allow direct access to the Quad core and its memory bus, running 2 8800GTX will be a waste and the quad processor will be just as choked as a E6800

The next gen of video cards may allow that with the right MB support. So far, only AMD is offering that new type of direct access on the dual slug L motherboard designs. At this point the ATi R600 is the only card confirmed to support that direct core and memory access.

I suspect Nivida will also support it in the G81 but thus far have not heard confirmation of that and there are no Intel boards as of yet that allow the type of communication needed to uncork the bottleneck

SLi must be run at 1900x1280 - 2500x1600 at an AA of 16X in FSX for SLi to have a good advantage, although lower will work and there are advantages to running Sli in FSX even at lower res however that is not with 2 8800GTX cards.

Pitting 2 GTX cards in SLi is going to choke the processor without the right motherboard and video core support.

Assuming the right combination of cards and processor are in place, in SLi, the frame target needs to be bumped up (to a reasonable level) and VSYNC disabled too:

However, given FSX is CPU bound this only has an effect at high resolutions with max AA. Another thing to remember is to be sure and disable VSYNC and make sure your frame rate target is bumped up otherwise FSX itself is throttling you.

And my assesment of the G80 shaders causing problems in FSX seems to be somewhat correct. ATi seems to have fixed that in the R600

I can confirm that I put my rig on to a single 30" monitor

and one last thing...

THREADED OPTIMIZATION to OFF in the Nvidia drivers on Core 2 Processors

This may or may not increase the system resorces to the software and boost frames a tad.

Play with ON and OFF but from what I have seen, Conroe wants that OFF

AMD does not seem to care
