CPU went from AMD Athlon64 3200+ to 3800+; vidcard from ATI X700Pro to eVGA e-GeForce 7900GS/KO; power supply from crappy, "spike the board sooner or later" Bestec 300W doorstop to a quality 500W unit and RAM from 1536 to 2048Mb. I am so excited. Can I come inside and play on my computer now, Mom?

Not that I am going to spend much more money, but what would be needed to make it run perfectly? The next (and last) upgrade planned is to boost the RAM to 4Gb. I am debating a drive transplant to 320Gb, but that's on the back burner for now.
This new card is pretty good. I can flick through the four views as fast as my thumb can flick, and it never misses a beat. Screen repaints are virtually instantaneous. What an improvement over the X700.
I would like to give away my X700 card and the 3200+ chip I was using to a young user somewhere in the Lower 48 of the US only. They are going together or singly; it matters not. I have the original box and all the documentation for the card. The 3200+ chip is in the box in which the upgrade chip came. Please PM me if anybody wants one or both. I am working harder than a one-legged man at a poopkicking contest, so please be patient. I will send it along as soon as I can get the time. I will send it to you totally free of charge. I don't need them so you benefit, whomever you are. Thanks.

I remember what it was like to be a kid with no money and no way to earn any. I was 15 for most of 1973. We lived in Italy on an army base about ten miles south of Pisa. I had a little job sacking groceries at the base commissary. I did about an hour and a half after school, twice a week, for about five weeks. I got only tips for my work-- no regular compensation at all. A quarter was big money in those days for a 15 year-old kid. My annual Social Security statement shows I made all of $14 in 1973. Considering that, I thought it would be a good thing to give away the card and the chip (with fan and heatsink, too) to a young man who can't afford what was a $200 card in May of 2005. The chip was probably about the same but it came in the machine, so I have no way of knowing its actual retail cost. In any event, the person who gets one or both of them will be he who sends me the third PM with his name and address attached. Just send your name, address and a short note referencing the chip and/or the card and it's yours. I am very busy in my job, so I will have to get it in the mail when time allows.
