FS9 Video Card

Postby Carlos.Saito » Mon Feb 19, 2007 11:05 pm

Hello, I have a quick question, what is the best Video Card that is going to give me the best performance and realism on FS9? Right now i have a ATI RADEON 9000 32MB. Should i change this video card? I play FS for 10 years, I just dont know too much about computers. Thank you very much for your help.

Water effects set to low

Carlos,

See my machine specs in the trailer below the message.  I am still not happy with this for fs9....but I have high standards.  The video card is a ATI 9800XT 256 Meg card....... when I bought it the top card available well after the release of fs9...... and it STILL doesn't "do it".

Moving up from what you have however.... such a card would be a huge difference.

Ignore the "minimum specifications" information on the product boxes from Microsoft.  They are a joke.

best,

I've used a Radeon 9000 myself, the first days of FS9, but it was a 64Mb. Was not really adequate, and it had the double of your video memory. Warmly suggested you change with either one of the more modern ATI (I don't follow the Radeon market, so can't really suggest) or a Nvidia deries 6xxx at the very least, as powerful as possible compatibly with your budget. Keep in mind though that every and any videocard on the market right now is better than the one you're using, no offense meant.

My card is in the signature and I keep all maxed out with absolute satisfaction. The only time things go under 20 fps is when there's a lot of AI, and AI are CPU dependent almost exclusively. You can find something similar around for about 100

I got everything set and got the best for everything.

Have about 18-25FPS, which is okay.

AA is off, otherwise it would be 4FPS  :P

Specs below...

as long as the 8800 is not paired with a slow processor, motherboard and low/slow memory, it is the best card on the market right now.

until next month when the R600 is released
