Overkill?

Postby Bubblehead » Sun Feb 18, 2007 11:40 pm

I am planning to pruchase an EVGA Nvidia 7950GT 512M SLI video card. I'm only going to buy one at the moment due to funding constraints. I heard that this video card is designed for serious gamers. But, is this top line card necessary to just fly aircraft in FSX or CFS3? What would be a realistically appropriate card which will meet or exceed the FSX requirements (FPS and graphic and scenery settings).

I have user the 7800, 7900, and 7950 and they all work great in FSX, but if you are going to spend that kind of money I really would consider a version of the 8800.

I have never used anything other than what I have listed for FSX so I can't really answer your original question, but if you want to run with high slider settings you need the best GPU you can afford.

He's right, that card wont run it without a high spec pc only on very low settings to get decent fps even then it's rubbish, although great on most other titles.
FSX needs Windows Vista DX10 + DX10 card ( DX10 is not out yet but the cards are )

Maybe one of these will do the trick

a 7950 512mb will run it alright with a few tweaks and as long as the rest of your rig is not bottlenecking it
