Hey ya'll,

I was wondering what hardware is this guy using in the folllowing Flight Simulator 2004 youtube video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hw6nY5DLTc

I visibly see head phones and I can also see something attached to the cap of his hat. I'd like to do a Flight Sim setup using this technique.

My computer specs:

Compaq Presario SR1738NX
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+
2.19 GHz
2 GB of Ram
Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS (I can hook an additional monitor to the card)

Flight Simulator 2004 runs great on this machine. The majority of the settings are set on high and rarely have any lagging issues. I guess for now instead of buying 3 additinal flat screen monitors, I can just get an extra one, but my main goal is to find out what device he's using for the interactivity.

That (I'm pretty sure) is TrackIR, which follows the movements of your head by a small bit of hardware attached to your head, and a tracker sitting on top of your monitor.

Yep I looked into that one too. I might get that one somewhere down the road. I was actually googling earlier today and I found 2 sites where these guys built their own homemade flight simulator cockpit.

I'm sitting here just drooling over these pics on these sites:

These are just impressive and I wish I had the time and money to do this. I mean I'm not serious about being a pilot or anything but just sitting in one of those cockpits and simulating would be a kick butt experience ya know. Too bad there wasn't a way to do something like this for MS FS2004 on a cheaper basis without having to sell a body part or getting a home equity loan to build this lol.
