Is the core 2 duo E6600 processor compatible with the 32bit version of windows?

Well I think I discovered the problem. I found this at the Gateway website.
"Upgrading to a non-Gateway motherboard would make the operating system prompt for activation, as it is locked to Gateway hardware. If you are installing a non-Gateway motherboard, a new operating system would also need to be purchased."
Bummer, I thought I could use this software until upgrading to Vista.

And this wasn't obvious how? If I remember right it says on the disk, "Only for use with Gateway products"

I know you can use Dell disks on any computer, you just can't use the Dell CD key, you have to use a different one. As far as the gateway disk it would be the same thing, so even if it had booted, you wouldn't be able to use it, because it would reject your CD key.
