Once again the teacher needs a lesson.

Okay I'm back again. My P4 is getting on my nervs like crazy, and by that I mean I cant get it above 3.8Ghz, and even then its blue screening every once in awhile. So basically I've  burned it, and its on its last legs. So as I was going to give this rig to my little sister anyway I'm thinking of dumping in a Core 2 E6300, but I can't find any information anywhere on the net that leads me to believe that this CPU will work. I mean its a dual core with a 1066mhz FSB which the board supports, but I'm just wondering if my BIOS will actually recognise the CPU.

Anyone have any intel? (no pun intended)

Cheers

I think the motherboards BIOS has to support Conroe processors.  Most motherboards that support them have the word "Conroe" in their description.  Unless you could find a BIOS that could support the E6300, then my guess would be no.  Even if it does have Dual Core and 1066, I dont think it will recognize the CPU.

and btw, are you actually going to SLi your 7900s or no?  I remember you saying that....

Decided against it. Needed a processer insted.

As for the processer thing, I realised that soon after I posted. I'm going to flash my BIOS to the latest one, and see what that does for me. I may end up with a PD 945

Hmmmm....sounds like a plan.  If you could live with what you have, that extra money you dont spend now will come in handy with your next rig.

I did, but not for Core 2. I found one for Core Solo, which I am not going to put in my rig. So since this rig is going to my little sister anyway, I'm going to see if my parents will buy me the new processer, if not, I can live.
