Look at one of the Samsung 21" LCDs.  They are good quality, and have a response time and contrast ratio.  You could also go for a 19" widescreen, but they seem very small compared to the 22".  If you have the money, I would recommend going for the 21" or 22", they will be better for movie watching/editing.

Will a widescreen TFT give me a better field of view when flying in FS9...? by that I mean will there be more scenery to look at than simply just stretching the sides to fit / fill the widescreen monitor...???

I recently decided to upgrade and had the same questions. I was given this to look into by NickN: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6824014124

Large real estate, native 1920x1200, fastest response in class (6ms) with a true 8bit screen (most are 6bit), no banding, no distortion, no ghosting, ready for Bluray HD and HDMI. A true 1080 unit.

For the cost to size/feature/quality ratio I can not fine a better one and will be ordering it next week. I was looking into cheaper however when I look at how much is spent on the cheaper compare to what the 24inch had to offer, spending a bit more for something that would provide a better quality image @ that size was a no-brainer for me.

It will not stretch the signal if you are running a Nvidia or ATI adapter. It runs it 1:1 at full 1920x1200 screen size as set to in-game

Naaa... That's OK... It's just a pity I have to work to a budget in the first place... The quicker I spend it the less chance the wife has of gettin' her mits on it... ;D

I've been looking at:

I cant comment on the comparison of those units.

The Samsung 204B would be a better choice over the one you listed. It has a 5ms response time instead of 6ms (lower is better) and a better pix spec http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824001225

Someone else here who may have one of the other monitors may be able to comment. TFT is very hard to shop for especially for gaming. Many of them ghost and bleed at high speedsand some people just live with it and think its normal. I wont.  ;)

I'm running a 4:3 aspect ratio (normal, not widescreen) monitor right now, its the Samsung 931BF 19" LCD, and its fantastic for gaming, and has excellent specs.  2ms response time and a 2000:1 contrast ratio.  If you want a good performance gaming monitor which is still fairly big, I would recommend it.  It depends what  you want though, because eventually widescreen monitors are going to become the norm just like widescreen TVs.  Not many games support widescreen gaming yet, but eventually the majority will.

I recently purchased a Samsung 225BW and am quite happy with it.

I too wanted the 24" screen but elected to upgrade 2 of my computers with the 22" monitors for about the same price as 1 24"

16:9 is the same as 4:3  (16/4 = 4  + 9 /3 = 3)  same ratio, larger screen

Some widescreens can stretch an image to 16:10. This wont happen on a computer with a graphics card that sets the ratio, only if you intend to use it for a direct connection to a cable box or other device.

Hi guys...
Thanks for the feedback...
I'm startin' to get confused with all this talk of ratios... My video card is an Sapphire Radion X1600 pro 512mb (AGP) so I'm fairly confident it's able to correct to the required ratio... that said & done, won't the drivers that accompany the hardware sort out ratio issues...???
