Thought this was the best place to put this but does anyone have any advice when it comes to a excellent gaming mouse?  I have a standard MS optical 5 button mouse that does pretty good with FSX and FS9 (not like we use it that much in flight sims) but with games like Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2 but I know a lot of guys out there have a gaming mouse, laser and optical that seem to give one an advantage.  

Any thoughts?  I'm looking at a Razor Copperhead, Logitech MX1000, MX 518 or the G5 or G7.

I have a couple of Logitech "GAMING" mice and see no advantage to them at all. They are great mice though and have some nice features.

However, the Logitech G15 keyboard is a different story.

The keys are lit for use in a darkened room.

An LCD display to monitor your CPU usage plus a few other items.

54 programmable keys on the left side gives you no end to shortcuts and game commands.

I agree. I have a G5, G510 and a recently purchased Revolution. All are customizable and work great. I use mine more for MS Office than gaming.

It took me a few days of use before I got the G5 where I wanted it but it was worth the effort. The G5 is also my gamer mouse.

I didn't like the options the setpoint software allowed me for the Revolution so gave it a try! AWESOME!

Thanks guys...after doing more research (like who needs to research a mouse right?  ;D) I think I'm leaning towards the G5 or G7 but then I guess it's whatever they have in stock the day I go to pick one up!  :)

but the best gaming mouse is the logitech G7, most my clan use them and say that they are awesome

I have the G7 and it's very nice. If you game alot, a fully charged battery will last most of the day.

Personally, the best "Gaming" purchase I made was the Logitech G15 keyboard. Lots of features, applets to download like the TeamSpeak applet. Love this keyboard.

I have a Creative Wireless Optical 3000. It has two buttons and a scroll wheel that doubles as a button. I also have a standard M$ keyboard.

When it comes to gaming I play H&D2 online and there is no one who can comfortably beat me. So gaming mice and keyboards are not a great advantage.


The mouse takes AA batteries and they last 1 or 2 weeks depending on use.

I also have a MX518 and really like it.

The ability to adjust sensitivity on the fly is very handy at times. It gives you precise control for things like photo editing, etc.

I also have a MX518, but have expirance with the G7 and the Revolution. All in all they are nice mice. As long as you have at least 1600DPI you have a nice mouse. After that its all about the buttons and weight. I ended up with the MX518 because it was a nice balance of everything.

What extra stuff does a gaming mouse give you? I've never had one, and I play first person shooters with my regular 2-button laser mouse with scroll just fine.

As far as I can make out a gaming mouse gives you more buttons than you have fingers for. From what I read here it also appears that you can alter the weight of some of them. IMO having a gaming mouse/keyboard just makes it all the more insulting when someone without whups you.

My G5 feels amazing in my hand, and it's very handy to switch the sensitivity (or whatever it is) as your playing a game.  So I would recommend the G5 or G7.
