Microsoft Force Feedback 2?

Postby Status Crow » Sun Dec 31, 2006 1:27 pm

Let me preface this by saying I'm a noob and my search-fu is weak.  ;)

I have an MS Sidewinder force feedback 2 stick, but am unable find the original install disk. I've scoured Microsoft's site and knowledge base but only came up with ones for WIN95 and WIN98. Does anyone know of any sites that may have them? Also, is this stick compatible with WINXP and Flight Sim X?

The stick is compatible with XP I haven't tried it with FSX but would assume it should work fine.
As for the software you shouldn't need it and windows should recognize it just fine.
But I found this one here, I dont know if it is what you need or not if not you may be able to find what your looking for at that site.

You don't need or want the software, it's just profiling and nothing else.

XP auto detects sidwinders and they run perfect without any software at all, long live the sidewinder

I had a sidewinder 2 USB non FFB. Simply the best stick ever, 3 years of CFS and FS killed it. the ball got loose so I pulled it apart to see if I could fix it, next thing I knew my desk was full of busted parts.... Surprised it still worked! So if you do take a bit better care of it than I did mine, it'll last for years! I hate these new sticks, including the one I have now. And the software is useless, I have it around here somewhere probably... Just profiling and its so simple you dont need that

The joys of my old busted sidewinder..... Gunny

Well I have fried a few things yes, Joystick was dead long before I pulled her open, Ball was a bit loose, I'd say VERY loose. Emachines was the first one to fry, and now I learned it was a just the hard drive, a new one and a copy of XP coulda fixed that. my last one was a cheapo PSU, Sound card started making the thing get blue screens, I managed to FINALLY, get it to boot, only to find that it was overheating, After about 4 frustrating auto restarts it never booted again.... 2 years per computer, not too bad for Store bought things...

Gunny

EDIT: everything from my last pc still works, ram, 6200, etc only things that dont are the PSU, Motherboard, and CPU probably.

My main flight setup is all CH.
But I will never get rid of my MSFF, I keep it handy. Nothing is better for just plugging in to the desktop or laptop and start flying in seconds without needing extra software.
