So the title sorta says it, the rig needs no monitor/keyboard etc, but I'd like to play FS9 on it from time to time, so here's what I've got so far, any suggestions?

I kinda like the CPU/Vid card a lot myself, and I managed to keep it within the price range(max

Power supply will be fine.  I'm running it on my rig right now.  You could even go with a 500W PSU if you wanted, it would still be fine too.

The PSU looks like overkill but it can't hurt.

Personally I would skimp on the PSU and case and get an E6600 CPU, but huge PSU's are fashionable.... as are sound cards and cases :P

Normally, mainboards come with a cable bundle, why the secure cable? I just ripped a WD 250gb connector to pieces and wrecked a new harddrive with a secure cable that didn't release correctly when I tried to remove it, I didn't use much force either, so be careful.

You do realise that the E6300 is a 1.8ghz cpu and is not fast unless well overclocked right? That system should overclock very  nicely, as the core components are all overclock compatible, ie, it's an overclocking rig...... for Mum? Or really for you ?  ;)

he mentioned that he would like to play fs9 on it from time to time   :)

With that stuff, it looks like you could almost run FSX!

Could almost? Try definately could. Now you couldn't max it, but you could run it decently with a stable 25FPS.

BTW 7900GTs from XFX are now sub $200 so I would suggest one of them opposed to the GS.

Cheers

I agree on the PSU, thats a lot of power for that system. I am running a OCZ Powermax 530W and its not slowing down with 2 HDD, 7800GTX, AMD 3700 SD, and 1 gig OCZ ram at 2.8V. Also have some lights etc hooked up to it.  The soundcard is a good, it takes a small bit of stuff off of the cpus back so leave it in.
