Joystick Problems - Please Help.

Postby sharkbate24 » Sat Dec 30, 2006 11:02 am

Hello all.
I just bought a cheap mikomi Joystick. When I collabarate and test it in the Game Controllers control panel it works FINE. However, when I go in game (FS2004) the joystick just turns by itself everywhere. When I turn right it turns right, then goes back to center then right again etc (basically when turning right it goes haywire).

This is driving me nuts. Also - It is a 15 Pin GAMEPORT joystick.

If no-one can help me with this, hopefully I might have a maximum of

You prolly want to get a better stick, preferably USB. I don't know what they have for sticks these days, I bought a Logitech FFB for $17 on ebay a while back. My cheapo joystick did that (first one I bought) and it was Gameport... Somebody else know of modern joysticks?

It sounds like your problem is infact that you are useing a gameport joystick. Newer games don't like them.

You can pick up a Saitek X45 on the net for about $45 (25 EUR).

FS2004 is not a newer game that doesn't like gameport joysticks, it should work just fine. What newer games don't like gameport joysticks, I never heard of this?

Gameport joysticks are great for a gaming machine and support for gameports should not have been dropped in my opinion due to the CPU overhead used by USB controllers, another trendy backwards step in the name of progress

I tried it with Flightgear, and I still get the same problem.

Maybe Im doing the collabaration wrong? Where you have to make circles, im going round in circles, but how many do I do, what speed etc?

On the test thing under Game Controllers, when I test it it works perfect. However its only in game it controls by itself, then when I turn it right it goes all funny and turns right, then goes back to teh center then right and so on.

As it works under the "test" thing, it should just be a problem with the configuration in game. But it happens on all game. So must be something how it interacts with the game.

Infact the joystick cost me about
