does anybody know how this would handle fs9 and maybe fsx in the future.

http://www.compusa.com/products/product ... _Minitower

i'm thinking about getting this and was wanting to install my 9800pro, but now i don't think it supports agp.  so, now i'm maybe thinking about getting this and then getting another graphics card.  can anybody tell me how well this machine will work with a new card?  also, should i look for the newer dual core cpu's instead?  i think i can find one for around the same price.

First question, did you read the stickie? Its there for a reason.

Second question is what is your budget. If that link from CumpUSA is about the cap of what your willing to spend, your kinda screwed. To build a brand new rig that can max out FS9, and can run FSX at a decent pace your going to have to spend at least $800.

would i be better off buying an off the shelf duel proc based computer or an athlon 64 and just get a decent video card to go with it.  i'm coming to the conclusion that that may be the route to go.  i may end up spending a little more, but i'd also get 1g of ram and a faster processor.  also, my 9800pro agp card won't get me through for a little while as i'm finding out all the new computers don't seem to support agp or am i wrong about that.  i'm seeing a bunch of computers in the $500-700 that seem to suit my needs, of course that's minus the video card.  i think i may hold off on fsX since it seems like i'll need a supercomputer to run that right now and i'd rather run fs9 maxxed out then X at low res.

The best thing you can get under $200 is a 7900GS. You might also need a power supply upgrade with that.

ok, i'm getting to the point that i'm gonna just buy an oem computer.  i built my last one about three or four years ago and i'm looking for something that i can max out fs9 and maybe get into fsx in the future.  what should i look for.   i'm getting to the point that i'm just getting too frustrated having to keep on the latest and greatest hardware, installing all the different drivers, i'm just wasting good flight sim time.  i just want something that i can throw in a video card and go.  also, what would be the best video card under $200 to get.  my question is processor, ram, ram speed, etc....  i'm kind of partial to amd since that's what i built up the last timed and i always liked the underdog.

WOULD YOU READ THE FECKING STICKIE!!!!!!

God d*** I didn't wirte it because I wanted something pretty at the top of the forum, I wrote it so that the more inexpiranced members (n00bs) like yourself would have a resource to get a good idea of what they need, then come to us with a BUDGET so that we may then tell you what you need.

But what do I recomend you ask.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
nVidia 7900GS or better.
2GB DDR2 800 RAM

If you can find that on the shelf I'm going to be impressed. If you build right the first time you don't spend all your time fiddeling with your drivers.

Cheers
Cameron

PS: Sorry to explode at you, but its like the oldest question ever and I spent a good amount of time writing that piece, and to have it go unused pisses me off.

mr.joyce, sorry to get your pnties in an uproar, i'm new to this site and overlooked the sticky.  anyways, i appreciate the fact that you did take the time to write that and it is very useful.  i do appreciate that.  since i don't want to run fsX right now i won't mind just getting a system to max out fs9.  i really enjoy flying my 737 cross country on vatsim where the visual benefits of fsX don't really matter to me.  i haven't looked into vatsim to see what the future is with 2004 and vatsim though.  so for now i've seen some sysytems athlon 64 3700 and 3800's that i can pick up for about $400-500 and add another gig of ram and a video card.  appreciate everyones help here and sorry if i overlooked the sticky.

I think someone is in urgent need of an outsize ego removal. ::)

This is not the way we do things at Simviation. Nobody knows who you are or your qualifications to give advice.

Look I'm sorry I exploded like that, but this is the 4th thread in less than a month where the initial question could have been answered by the information there. I'm fine with people asking questions, but topics like this where its a vauge, "I want to play FS9 maxed out, and FSX at a decent pace, what do I need" annoy me as they come up once every two weeks.

As for my qualifications, though I'm not as expiranced as someone like nick or Congo, I find that about 90% of the advice or information I give out is helpful, I wouldn't post something unless its something that I would personally do put into the particular situation.

Cheers

At least you had the grace to apologise afterwards. While you were doing so it might have been better to remove your previous remarks & add a link to that sticky you referred to. People come here for help & not everyone is familiar with forums or even technical terms. This doesn't mean they're stupid & they should be treated with a little respect, not the sarcasm & rude remarks which seem to be taking over this forum in recent weeks. You never know who you might be speaking to & remarks like yours could turn them away for ever.

4th thread in less than a month you say? I've been experiencing this sort of thing almost every day for over 7 years. LOL If you set yourself up to help people it's something you have to be prepared to accept. I never forget that I was a newbie once & try to treat people as I would like to be treated myself.

I appreciate what you're trying to do but you cannot force people to read anything or take any notice of your suggestions. Lighten up a little & life will seem far less frustrating. ;)
