Case fans......
Posted: Sun Nov 26, 2006 2:08 amLately, I've been doing some research into getting lower temps in my case....I'm running my Athlon 3700xp at 2.5 Ghz with a subtle overclock and get idle temps around 39.5-40C..Not bad in my eyes.........I have added one fan to the front bottom of my case and am in the process of adding in one more to the top middle (blow hole).....
.....problem I'm having is the stuff I read from all the so-called modding (cooling) experts...each and every one I read from, says that they think the number of fans should be balanced as an equal number ?......is it just me or have none of them remembered their basic physics ?.......didn't we all learn that when you heat air it expands ?.........my feelings are that if you are going to have some airflow direction in your case, you should have more exhaust than intake, to allow for that said expansion?........
For me, I have some meaningful history on a related subject and I introduce the concept of cooling R/C model aircraft engines.........I'm sure Doug (Hagar) will back me up on this one.......all the cowled engines I've ever had cooling problems with were solved with adding in larger exhaust holes near the back of the engine bay or even blocking some of the incoming air to force the flow around the finned head even faster to cool better.......I see no difference in case cooling for my computer and will endeavor to ensure that I have one intake at the front of my case near the bottom and two exhaust fans for removal of the heated, expanded air.....one on the top and one in the back panel just above the vid card and under the PSU........
