More RAM?

My PC has three (3) 512M PC3200 memory chips for a total of 1.5Gigs. With the attractive prices of RAMs nowadays, I would like to add more RAMs. However, in a year or so I will need to upgrade my PC which will require me to buy the appropriate type RAMs. My question is: Can I use a PC4600 or thereabouts to replace my PC3200 now. I understand that it will only run as fast as the other components will allow but that's OK cause I can use the same chips for when I upgrade my PC. Make any sense?

Everything in the future is going to need DDR2, not DDR. So if your going to upgrade your RAM have fun, but your not going to be able to use the new stuff.
So basically upgrade if you want, but unless your future processer is another 939 its kinda a waste. Also unless your overclocking getting PC4000 is not needed.

I have to agree with Cam... if this was a year ago your assesment would have merit however when you go to replace your system and upgrade, unless you intend to buy old hardware, you will need to move into DDR2 which will not work on your current board. Unless you dont mind the money being spent, its not worth the additonal cost.
Adding more memory will not gain any frames however it can help smooth things out. Dont expect miracles though.
I run 2 gigs and after a FS9 or FSX session I check the useage.. for FS9 its around 1.2-1.5gig and for FSX its right at my max of 2. For FSX 3 gigs is really needed especially with Windows Vista.
