I just use the windows defrag utility and I have no idea what your PC is so I can't compare time taken to do a defrag, but it does seem to take forever on some systems.

The defrag should offer overall improvement.

If the drives are nearly full, the defrag may take an age. Try not to go over 50% total capacity on any of your drives if you want the best drive speed.

2 gigs left, now I know why it took so much  ;D but congo what you mean is that i.e. a 30 gb with 15gb used will run better than the same HD filled up to 20gb?

This is the correct proceedure to use O&O Defrag

DO NOT TOUCH YOUR SYSTEM WHILE IT IS WORKING AND YES YOU MUST WAIT... AFTER YOU GO THROUGH THIS FIRST LONG RUN.. IT WILL BE QUICK FROM THAT POINT ON.

If the drive is fragged to hell... it could take 12 hours to run the complete routine

and YES FS9 and everything else on your system will run MUCH better

Delete everything out of the following folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR ACCOUNT NAME\Local Settings\Temp

C:\Windows\Temp

Some files may refuse to delete... thats OK as they are O&O Defrag files being used by the system...  just delete eveything you can. You should only have 2-4 files that will not delete.

then...
