Recovery help!

Postby Gunny04 » Tue Oct 03, 2006 2:50 pm

I need some important FS data off my old hard drives... theres a catch, my new computer supports sata, now what I need is a recomendation for a PSU that has both sata and P4 connectors (about 4 of them).... and some way to reover my data (I believe the hard drives were formatted by me) that makes it all the much harder..... the things I need are Flight simulater download files, payware and such....... Cheers, Gunny

I plan to BUY one.... if I can find 100 bucks plus the shipping I was searching all over last night for it.... now my other question, does this PSU also have the P4 connectors for Cdrom drives, (I know it does) but does it have about 4 extras for hard drives and 2 for CDroms? Cheers, Gunny

its on my 'to buy' list.... That will do me fine with all the Molex connectors..... that means I can run my 1 sata, maybe 2 if I get another, and my 3 IDEs..... Nice! and two video cards? well I cant run two lol.... (No SLI interface) I cant even use my 3 PCI Slots (Graphics card covers the first one) and one device would fill the other two... Thanks CT! Cheers, Gunny

EDIT: Now, you seem good with hardware, you got a suggestion for a sound card? and whats the ATI equivalent of a 7600, 7800, 7900, and 7950.... I'm looking at future upgrades for this computer, and my ATI side is rusty if at all 'non existent!'

My post has ben edited, check it out.

As for the other stuff, unless you need all 6 stereo out jacks, or a Gameport, there is no reason to have a deadacated sound card. Some argue that it increases FPS in FS by taking some load off the cpu, well I'm sorry but 5FPS isn't worth $70.

As for the cards

nVidia  /  ATi
7300      X1300
7600      X1600
7800      X1800
7900      X1900
7950      X1950

Cheers

Thanks, I want a sound card so my music sounds a bit better and I hate my onboard due to Microphone issues and such.... I am debating on a Audigy 2 or something, thanks on the card compares as well! Cheers, Gunny

EDIT: Why I wanted the graphics cards were so I could get a new one, I do not like this 7300 at all, I only payed 50 so I dont care..... once I get a new card and a PSU I might overclock it and fry it on purpose  ;D

well its official i am back to stock graphics card, my computer kept crashing in NFSMW and going slow, so I fired up Everest 480MB system ram and 500 being used (Graphics card no doubt) I shut her down, yanked it out and started it back up..... now I'm running 980MB ram but its a lot better than 480.... time for a new card... Cheers, Gunny

EDIT: Is there a way of locking the card to its stock 128 Ram? Cheers, Gunny

Well its still going to each my ram..... but I put another gig in it (Was PC2700 from old comp) in with my 3200 that this came with, strangely in everest they all register PC3200!? anyways, FSX demo runs a little better, and windows loads faster..... wow 70 bucks 8 months ago is still worth it! I am a really happy person..... Cheers, Gunny
