Conroe/Allendale Clearup!

Right, I feel the need to post this.

From what I'd heard and from what people were saying, I was led to believe that the C2D series was comprised of:

E6300/6400 - Allendale
E6600/6700/X6800 - Conroe

However, this is not the case. All of the above mentioned processors are Conroes.

Quoted from Techreport:
You'll find plenty of sources that will tell you the code name for these 2 MB Core 2 Duo processors is "Allendale," but Intel says otherwise. These CPUs are still code-named "Conroe," which makes sense since they're the same physical chips with half of their L2 cache disabled.

The real Allendale chips (like the E4300) will be released next year.

So I hope that clears everything up!

I could see why some people got confused.

Anyways, is Allendale a Celeron replacement?

Nope. The P4 chips are being renamed Celeron.

Basically, yes.

The Allendales will be 2Mb L2 cache dual core CPUs. They will be 65nm, 1066MHz FSB, so will still be considered "performance" chips.

The Kentsfield will be the first quad core chip from Intel - a quad core MCM - ie. 2 Conroes strapped together.

It's successor will be the Bloomfield which will be the 'true' quad core, single die CPU.

u know AMD will smash intel again more than likely with the quad core tech

And have you seen K8L? Take a 5000+x2 and throw another one ontop. Sorry, but for this runaround Intel is on top. Mabe, just mabe AMD will launch something that can overtake Intel, but when we look at the fact that Intel is going to launch a new core every two years for the next 10 years, AMD is going to have one super processer to take them down.

Personally what I think is going to happen is that AMD is going to become a "budget" processer, so its going to start showing up in OEM systems etc, but Intel is going to reclaim its Ferrari status.

intel will stay as the budget cpu

AMD will more than likely stay gamers favourite. because if you think about it. they have been for a few years now and will stay that way.

History will show that Intel's have never been cheap.

Not really. The gamer will put his money where the most preformance can be achieved. If he can buy a $350 E6600 vs a 5000+ X2, he is going to buy the E6600, unless he got the AMD for free...its just common sense.

AMD have ATi under their belts now. They don't have to compete directly with Intel any more.

And according to market anaylists Intel is in good standing to buy nVidia.

I wonder where that idea came from. ;D

You have to admit that would look really desperate on Intels part. ;D
