God we need to have a stickey so that the n00bs will stop asking this dumb question.
First things first. To get a
GOOD FS rig that will play at 35+FPS on high settings your going to need to drop
AT LEAST $1000 With the future looking for dual core processers, 2GB or more of RAM, and high end GPUs, spending less is like kicking yourself in the mouth after having braces put on. You don't feel the pain at first because your so happy about your new rig, but then slowly but surely the lag factor kicks in, and you wish you had spent more and bought a good system.
Secondly. OEM computers are for the general public for a reason
THEY ARE GENERAL. They are not made to be gamed on, they are ment to be setup to watch movies, pirate music, write school reports, and fill with spyware. They are not intended for gaming, and when a OEM does build a "gaming" rig they way overprice it, and usually the gaming community hates it. Again buying an OEM is one of the dumbest things you can do if your looking for a good FS rig.
Lastly. Americans listen up!
www.newegg.com is your best friend. They have the best everything from prices to customer service. Every computer part I have ever put into Sheila has come from that site, and I have yet to have a faulty one. They are simply the best. You will also find that building a $1800 rig from newegg will match the one from Dell costing $3K+
And another note BUDGET USERS STOP WHINEING! I understand that not everyone can afford to keep upgrading with the hardware, or throw $2K at every build, but seriously you get what you pay for. A budget system will never run FS9, FSX, or Vista half as well as the $1K system, you can tweak all you want, but it wouln't happen. Save longer buy bigger, cus you can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.
As for parts
E6600
Gigabyte P965 board
2GB OCZ or Corsair RAM (Mushkin isn't bad ithor, neithor is Crucial Balsticx)
120+ GB SATA3 drive (yes the SATA3 does matter for vista).
DVD drive,
Hiper Type R PSU (or other 500W+ stable PSU)
A rig like that will total about $1200 depending on the case you use, along with RAM and HDD size.
Again, if your not spending $800+ your not spending enough, and your most likely getting crap hardware.
Cheers
