Hey there hardware experts, cameron etc. Is this a good card to update to play for FSX? I'm looking to achieve an average of atleast 30 frames and higher and with most seetings higher then 50% of the display settings or maxed out.

Currents spec's :

Processor : I.P. 2.66
Ram is : 1 gig
vid car : 5500FX

Will it work out fine with the addition of a X1800XT? or should I settle for a Nividia card, something like a 7900GTX? ;D

The FX5500 is an AGP card, so unless your motherboard has slots for AGP and PCIe (very few do), you will have to stick with another AGP card until a change of motherboard.

Do you know what motherboard it is?

I believe the only motherboards with both agp and pci-e are the asrock motherboards, high unlikely you would have one.  You will need a new mobo to support that card.

Actually you would need a new system. Your processer, and probibly chipset are going to cause a huge bottolneck for the card, a 6800GT or X800XL would be a better upgrade.

There are powerful AGP cards, such as the 7800GS, and if you are lucky you can wind your CPU up a tad to cope with FSX (Free overclock upgrade!)

Very true. If you can crank your processer to about 3Ghz then you can probibly get a 7800GS with barely any bottolneck.
